So, to make sure that we're not doubling up on too much stuff. I thought that I'd mention a few non-clothes non-toiletries things that Liz and I are bringing with us on the trip, as well as a request or two. Feel free to add on what you are bringing in the comments, as it may help others to plan.
Ian and Liz are bringing:
Acoustic Guitar, plus looping pedal if I can fit it
The complete Beatles song book (otherwise why bring the guitar?)
Tennis Rackets (this will give Mom and Dad a chance for revenge after the vicious butt-whooping that I delivered at raquetball the last time I was at home)
Archos music player for tunes
Some DVDs (perhaps Firefly and Planet Earth? Maybe The Fountain or Pan's Labryinth?)
Ian and Liz don't have:
If there is room in one of the cars a box fan would be nice for Liz if the units don't have one already.
Some way to play tunes from a music player (Laura and Jon are bringing a laptop for this but if someone has a better portable speaker system that would be cool as well)

You should definitely bring Pan's Labyrinth. I'd love to see it again!
We don't have a portable fan, but we'll see if any of the other car people do.
We don't have nice portable speakers either. Both my Zen and Jon' iPod "dock" when they're hooked up to the computer, and don't "play." We'll see if we can get around that and actually play the music from them, or yours. Otherwise, I keep most of my mp3s on our desktop but maybe I'll dump some on the lap.
We're bringing some fun boardgames, a soccerball, tennis rackets, and a guiter as well.
Ian,
Dad and I can bring a small fan that comes on a stand. Liz will be happy and cool:)
Of course will bring tennis.
Dad is bringing laptop, but don't have anything to play the Zen onto. That's your department! Do we LOOK like we have the connections to play the Zens through speakers:) MOM
I made a comment. It just doesn't show up on the original post page:(
LOL!!111!!!1 I C yer c0mment m0m! D0n't B a n00b!!!
The only way that comments show up on the main post is if you click the actual header of the post - in this case, "What'cha bringing?" - and then you'll see comments down below, and just the single post. If you're viewing the main blog page with more than one post, you have to click to get to the comments.
So you did well! Not a nOOb, Ian notwithstanding.
I was thinking of bringing a little work with me but the laptop they gave me is VA encrypted :-P so I can't load the software I need onto it (stupid VA won't give me admin rights). If I brought the software along would it be okay if I borrowed a laptop every now & then to get a little data processing in? I'm probably being an optimist thinking that I'll get much done but I will have a decent amount time in the cabin while ya'll are galavanting around! :) I'll uninstall everything before we leave. Let me know if anyone is willing to share their laptop w/ me & I'll bring along some work. Otherwise I'll leave the stuff here. And obviously not hard feelings if you can't loan me your laptop. :) Looking forward to seeing you all!
Thanks for the fan Karen. :)
Not a problem, Liz. And our laptop will be in our unit anyway, so you're welcome to it. You can even catch up on past seasons of Scrubs if you don't feel like working!
